Wells could not be drilled and completed using conventional (MPD) drilling technologies:
- CHALLENGE: Drill an exploration well with high pore pressure uncertainty.
- SOLUTION: EC-Drill® Controlled Mud Level (CML) was identified as the technology that could best handle the gravel packing, drilling, casing, and cementing in the narrow pore pressure.
- RESULTS: The operator successfully executed four horizontal open hole gravel packs in a very challenging reservoir.
Drilling and gravel packed these wells with very tight pressure margins. Saved ~80% on the completion RIH/POOH time thanks to the EC-Drill® technology.
